About Us
Our History
Established in 2022.
Long Fist Kung Fu Association has been open since 2022. We had our grand opening on the first day of Chinese New year’s on Tuesday February 1st 2022. Just great reason to celebrate new beginnings. The memories and even some mementos are carried with us and displayed to remind us of where our Kung Fu journey started and how it has led us to the present location looking toward the future. Our school has not been around for long but our history goes back decades. Coming from John Chos Kung Fu School is Fresno we have a strong history of kung fu in our community from teaching kung fu to performing lion dances for our community during Chinese new years.
We are currently the only traditional Kung Fu School here in the Central Valley
Our style of Kung Fu has a strong Shaolin influence and emphasize fully extended kicks and striking techniques, and by appearance would be considered a long-range fighting system. Shaolin Long Fist uses large, extended, circular movements to improve overall body mobility in the muscles, tendons, and joints. Advanced Long Fist techniques include Qin Na or joint-locking techniques and throws and takedowns. Advanced students also have the opportunity to learn an additional style of Kung Fu like Seven Star Praying Mantis, Hung Gar or Northern Shaolin.
Coming from John Cho Kung Fu School.
After over 50 years of Kung Fu training and instruction Sigung John Cho retired in December of 2021. His students are making sure that the art continues for many more generations. Sifu Reggie started training at John Cho’s Kung Fu School in 1992 at the age of 11 and Sifu Luan since 2004 at the age of 12 combined they have over 50 years of Kung Fu experience. Sifu Reggie along with Sifu Luan felt it imperative to provide the same life changing, character and confidence building instruction that training in Kung Fu has provided for them growing up to their children and future students. No matter the age of a beginning Kung Fu practitioner the benefits are tremendous. Although, the Kung Fu school located at Fresno Street and Clinton Avenue had been opened for over thirty years we decided an updated location would benefit the students much more than with staying there.
